Der jüdische kanadisch-israelische Songwriter Yehuda Ledgley, in London, Ontario geboren lebte 18 Jahre in Israel wo er ein bekannter Name in der alternativen, Untergrundmusikszene Jerusalems wurde.
Er veröffentlichte in Israel zwei Alben, „ A view from here“ und „The Quiz“. Seine Texte sind einfallsreich, inspirierend und oft mit einem scharfsinnigen Einblick in die Ungereimtheiten und Widersprüchlichkeiten des menschlichen Daseins, begleitet von einem Mix aus psychedelischer und dann wieder volkstümlicher Musik.
Er sagt von sich selber, dass seine Musik von Sängern wie Elliot Smith, John Lennon, Nick Drake und Ozzy Osborne beeinflusst sei. Zu seinem Repertoire gehören Texte auf Hebräisch ( z.B. Hachatul Hame’ashen, deutsch: die „Rauchende Katze“, in Zusammenarbeit mit Ellie Brickman), auf Englisch (z.B. The Quiz ) und manchmal auch gemischt ( z.B. „My Brothers ).
Yehuda Ledgley lebt heute in Los Angeles. Er ist verheiratet, hat einen Sohn und eine Tochter aus erster und einen Sohn aus zweiter Ehe.
